What to Expect When You Call to Schedule Your DWI Assessment

One call. Five minutes. That's all it takes.
One call. Five minutes. That's all it takes.

You know you need a DWI assessment. You just have not made the call yet.

Maybe you are not sure what to say. Maybe you are worried about being judged. Maybe you just do not know what happens next.

Here is exactly what to expect from the moment you pick up the phone.

Who Will Answer?

When you call Hotch Healing, you reach a real person. You are not navigating a phone tree or leaving a voicemail in a system that takes days to respond.

You will speak with Domonique Blackmon, LCMHC, LCAS, who understands the DWI assessment process and can answer your questions directly. There is no judgment on the other end of that call. People contact us every day in exactly your situation. Reach her directly at 919-391-7593.

What Will They Ask You?

The scheduling call is straightforward. You will be asked for some basic information:

  • Your name and contact information

  • A general sense of your situation (first offense, approximate BAC, court date if you have one)

  • Your availability for an appointment

That is it. You are not being assessed during the scheduling call. You are simply finding a time that works.

What Should You Have Ready?

You do not need anything in hand to schedule. But it helps to know your court date if you have one. Some people have a deadline from the court or the DMV and want to make sure they schedule in time.

If you are not sure about your timeline, tell us. We will help you figure out whether you need to move quickly or whether you have more flexibility.

How Soon Can You Get an Appointment?

We do our best to get you scheduled quickly. If you are working against a court deadline, let us know upfront. We will do everything we can to accommodate you.

Do not wait until the last minute. The sooner you schedule your assessment, the sooner you can move forward with license restoration.

What Do You Need to Bring to Your Appointment?

Once you are scheduled, you will need to gather a few documents before you arrive:

  • A valid photo ID

  • Your court papers from your DWI case

  • Your BAC reading, refusal report, or blood test results

  • Your NC driving record dated within the last 30 days

  • Your insurance card (front and back)

We will remind you of this list when you schedule. If you are unsure where to get your driving record, we can point you in the right direction.

How Much Does the Assessment Cost?

The state-mandated assessment fee is $100. You pay this when you schedule your appointment.

What If You Have Questions Before You Call?

That is completely normal. A lot of people want to understand the process before they pick up the phone. That is exactly why we write these blogs.

If you still have questions after reading this, call Domonique directly at 919-391-7593. There is no such thing as a question she has not heard before. She would rather answer your questions now than have you walk into your assessment feeling unsure.

What Happens After You Schedule?

You show up to your appointment with your documents, meet with Domonique Blackmon, LCMHC, LCAS, and complete your assessment. The appointment takes about 45 to 60 minutes.

You leave with a clear recommendation — either ADETS or a treatment program — and the paperwork you need for court and the DMV.

From there, you know exactly what to do next.
